About NewMap
NewMap is a small public inspector for equal-area world maps. The HUD treats 4 September 2026 as the ratification date of a unified geodesic scale: Equal Earth as the baseline, metric tiers instead of tile zooms, a hexagonal DGGS overlay, and Tissot circles as proof.
Mercator remains available only as a non-compliant contrast — Greenland is not the size of Africa.
Independence. This site is an educational visualization. It is not an official United Nations, UN-GGIM, or UN Cartographic Section publication. In-world language on the map (“resolution”, “ratified”, “compliance”) is part of the teaching frame.
Coastlines: Natural Earth via world-atlas 110m. Engine: D3 geo projections in the browser. Forms: webs platform API.
